Description
2024 Easton Ghost Advanced -8: Double Barrel Power for Experienced Fastpitch Hitters
The 2024 Easton Ghost Advanced -8 (EFP4GHAD8) is the heavier end of the 2024 Ghost Advanced fastpitch range. It combines a two-piece composite design with a 2¼-inch barrel and the signature Ghost sound. At the available 34-inch length, the nominal weight is 26 ounces—a serious fastpitch swing that makes sense only if the hitter can control the head of the bat without getting late. Players with an established, efficient swing may appreciate the added mass, while others will make better contact with a lighter drop.
Double Barrel 3 and Sonic Comp Max
Easton's third-generation Double Barrel 3 uses a responsive outer barrel around a lighter inner barrel to help spread effective contact across the hitting surface. The Sonic Comp Max composite is the source of much of the familiar Ghost barrel feel and sound. Barrel responsiveness is meaningful, but it cannot make up for consistently missing the center of contact. Compared with the Ghost OG, the Advanced uses a different composite and barrel design, so the two models should not be treated as interchangeable.
How the Two-Piece Connection Changes Feel
The ConneXion Evolution joint separates barrel and handle, managing the contact feedback that reaches the hands. Easton's OptiFlex handle tuning is designed to account for length and weight, while the Power Boost Soft Knob emphasizes comfort at the bottom hand. That creates a different response than a one-piece Ghost Unlimited. The preferred sensation is personal: some hitters want a softer connection, and others want immediate feedback on every pitch.
Is the -8 the Right Drop?
The -8 is not simply a better version of the -10 or -11. A longer, heavier bat can reward a physically strong hitter who already generates quick barrel speed; it can also magnify timing problems, particularly on the inside corner. Evaluate game-speed swings and late-inning consistency before choosing it. Our Ghost Advanced, Ghost Unlimited, Kryo and Asura Lux comparison explains how barrel construction and handle feel differ across these families.
Compare other lengths and drops in our fastpitch softball bat collection to find the right combination for the hitter.
If barrel stiffness measurements are part of your research, our guide to interpreting bat compression numbers explains their limits. The right -8 fastpitch weight still depends on repeatable swing timing.
Ghost Advanced mixed — In-Stock Size and Fit
Current stocked configurations: 34 inch / 26 oz. Choose the length and drop that let the hitter control the barrel at full pitch speed. This model's two-piece composite feel should be judged by contact consistency and individual comfort rather than assuming identical response from a Ghost OG, Advanced or Unlimited version.
Compare fastpitch softball bats and review our ASURA LUX, Kryo, Ghost Advanced and Ghost Unlimited comparison for relevant model differences. Factory-stock bats do not automatically include aftermarket preparation or compression-verification video.
