Bat Shaving Levels Explained

Description

A long-barrel, one-piece Kyle Pearson signature bat

The 2025 Miken KP23 Maxload MSU514KP1L takes a clear position in the slowpitch lineup: a 14-inch hitting surface, a half-ounce Maxload and one-piece construction. Those characteristics give power-oriented hitters a longer barrel while keeping the more immediate feedback of a unified frame. A long barrel should not be confused with an automatically easy swing; the Maxload shifts part of the weight toward the end and asks the hitter to maintain good timing.

TRI-ZONE barrel design and MID FLEX feel

Miken's TRI-ZONE composite construction defines the hitting surface, with a MID FLEX handle concept and A1 knob aimed at a more controlled hand feel. The one-piece configuration differs substantially from a two-piece connection design that isolates handle feedback. Hitters who know they prefer direct contact sensation may find that appealing. The important test is whether the 14-inch barrel stays on plane, especially on pitches that require a quick adjustment.

Available version and comparison

The current in-stock option is 25 ounces. This is the 2025 KP23 one-piece model MSU514KP1L, not a later 2026 two-piece or differently loaded release. You can compare its 14-inch profile with other 240 NTS slowpitch models, or explore the slowpitch softball catalog for shorter-barrel alternatives.

Why composite condition matters

Composite slowpitch barrels change with repeated impact, and the same bat may not feel identical after extended use. Our article explaining professional bat rolling helps separate ordinary break-in from structural alteration. Shoppers considering alternatives with internal barrel modifications can visit shaved composite bats for sale and review the increased structural and event-rule risks before ordering.

240 NTS Slowpitch: Weight and Construction Fit

This Miken KP23 one-piece Maxload is built for hitters who prefer an end-loaded feel. Its currently stocked weights are 25oz. All are nominal 34-inch slowpitch configurations; select the actual ounces based on swing control rather than assuming the heaviest weight is best. The one-piece frame offers a direct impact response compared with connected two-piece bats.
