Description

Blackout X Noah Coleman: 12.75-inch one-piece power

The Noah Coleman signature Blackout X 240 pairs a 12.75-inch Kevlar-based composite barrel with a one-piece build and a half-ounce end load. That barrel is longer than Short Porch's 12-inch Fat Guy configuration, creating a different contact window without moving all the way to a 13.5- or 14-inch profile. It is intended for hitters who want loaded barrel presence but still value a manageable hitting zone.

Spin Tech, barrel response and feedback

Short Porch uses Spin Tech barrel technology and a matching Spin Tech knob on this model. The brand markets these features around contact spin and grip security, but the result still depends on pitch selection, swing path and where the ball meets the barrel. Its relatively soft composite barrel feel is paired with a Zero Flex handle, giving this model a useful contrast between barrel response and a stiff handle.

Why the one-piece layout is deliberate

Unlike a two-piece bat that can flex at a separate handle-to-barrel junction, the Blackout X is designed to deliver more direct feedback through a continuous frame. Hitters who like to know exactly where they made contact may prefer that sensation. Players accustomed to substantial handle flex or vibration filtering may need an adjustment period, especially when catching pitches near the hands or barrel tip.

Understanding the 0.5-ounce end load

The half-ounce end load adds barrel emphasis but is not an automatic advantage for every hitter. It can help a player who consistently arrives on time and wants to feel the head continue through the ball. It may work against a contact-oriented hitter who relies on very quick barrel redirection. Test the swing profile against your typical pitch locations, not just the best swing during batting practice.

Available weight and comparison shopping

Of the listed 25-, 26-, and 27-ounce variants, only the 34-inch/27-ounce option currently has positive store inventory. Compare its shorter, stiffer build with other 240 NTS slowpitch models or browse the complete slowpitch selection if a balanced or two-piece construction would better fit your approach. The listed ounce weight alone cannot describe the complete swing-weight feel.

Making sense of performance claims

Claims about spin and composite response should be evaluated alongside contact consistency and barrel condition. Our article on what compression testers actually measure helps separate a measurable barrel property from marketing promises. The bat sold here is not advertised as including any separate break-in, shaving, or compression-verification service; its factory configuration is the baseline for evaluating the model.

Factory markings and any original equipment claims apply only to the bat in its unmodified factory condition. Shaved or Rolled Bats have NO WARRANTY and cannot be used in any sanctioned event. Modified equipment must not be represented as retaining its original certification or warranty. Customers are responsible for checking the rules of any league, tournament, or event before use.
