Description

Short Porch OG Blackout Wig Popper: Ron Yeager's Compact Senior Power Barrel

The Short Porch OG Blackout Wig Popper Ron Yeager Signature is a one-piece senior slowpitch bat with a 12-inch Kevlar-composite barrel and a half-ounce end load. Those specifications tell you more about its intended hitter than the Blackout graphics: this is a compact, barrel-forward design for a player who likes a firm connection between the hands and the hitting surface. The model is distinct from Short Porch's longer-barrel and two-piece senior bats.

Why the 12-Inch Barrel Matters

A 12-inch barrel concentrates the hitting profile into a shorter section than a 13- or 14-inch slowpitch bat. The half-ounce load adds noticeable weight toward the end, helping a hitter feel the barrel through the zone. That combination rewards a repeatable path and well-timed contact, but it is not automatically the best choice for a player who needs the widest possible hitting surface. A balanced bat or longer barrel can be easier to control when timing is inconsistent.

Kevlar Composite and Zero-Flex Handle

Short Porch specifies a Kevlar-composite construction with a Zero-Flex handle for this signature model. In practical terms, the one-piece frame is intended to produce a connected, immediate contact sensation rather than the separated feel of a two-piece bat. Players who have used flexible-handle models may notice that difference most on balls struck away from the center. The barrel is composite, so its feel can change through normal use, but individual break-in and durability outcomes vary; no particular distance gain is guaranteed.

Choosing the Right Senior Bat

The Wig Popper suits experienced senior hitters who can manage a half-ounce load while keeping their hands quick on inside pitches. It also appeals to players who prefer one-piece feedback and can consistently locate the ball on a shorter barrel. A player struggling with late contact may be better served by a balanced configuration or a different ounce weight. Use the size selector for the exact weight available rather than assuming all advertised sizes are in stock.

Compare the Ron Yeager design with other SSUSA senior slowpitch bats, including longer-barrel and two-piece options. For an explanation of what barrel-stiffness readings can and cannot establish, read our article on bat compression testing. This product description concerns the bat itself, not a service automatically included with a stock purchase.
